THE STORMS FAMILY FOUNDATION EMBODIES THE BELIEF THAT ALL LIFE MARK STORMS was in his family lumber business in Fort Madison, Iowa when he met Doris Jordan, an art teacher at the local high school. They married and in 1944 they moved with their two young daughters, Suzanne and Mary, to Eugene, Oregon. Throughout their years in Eugene, they further welcomed Rosemary, Kathryn, Mark Jr., Anna, Carol, and Gloria to the family. Mr. Storms was involved in the lumber industry of Oregon, starting Monroe Lumber Company, owning timber land and further establishing mills in Toledo, Cheshire, Danebo and Riddle. In 1958, Mr. Storms sold his lumber interests and invested in oil and natural gas in Canada. He sold out all of his interests six months before his death on August 10, 1972.
